Thanks Vlad, Hitoshi is asking me about the staus of Taiwan trout. I will give out some more detail information later... This is the only trout species we have and they are the most southward living trout in the world (tropical trout as we call them), as far as Mexican Gloden Trout... Sadly, they are list as endangered species in my country. About 1500-2000 individual left...thriving in a beautiful creek and with couple of small tributaries (hight mountain habitat ~ 2100m asl). Pretty sad story actually due to the habitat degradation. They are facing all the problem of small population (such as habitat loss, inbreeding and disease etc...) But the good news is they are well-known flagship species now... lot's of research are jumping in to help this unique population.

Mark,

Thank you for explaining about those unique trout and their incredibly fragile and beautiful habitat. Those photos are fantastic...I only hope that with the current research their numbers would increase.

Hi Hitoshi,

It is gem clear mountain creek! As far as I know about the comparison. Taiwan Masu have darker coloration, but other than that it is difficult to see the morphological difference from the Yamame. I will post some other photo or link later... thanks.
