Hi Vlad, This is the ECHO 5wt 12'2 switch rod. Amazingly light and pretty good blance feel. I haven't cast it yet, but the lawn test convinced me that new spey rod design are running into different world (compare to my CND and previous TCR...). This rod deep flex into mid-section,but with a stiff tip... I think this will be a great streamer rod. You know...Vlad...I am not a big fan of streamer fishing, but for spey casting point of view, I found myself actually enjoy swinging a fly through the current... : )
Mark, that's great-I have to admit I haven't tried any of the latest crop of switch rods, but for the right water, it is perfect tool!
I am dreaming of unbelievably light long glass blank built into switch...light to throw 4wt for wet fly fishing and drifting little leeches, buggers and such... On smaller creeks like around here, would be good for dapping, too.
There are very good graphites like that, but I'd just like little less power. I've been looking at some Bruce & Walkers on ebay...but with currrent technology much better/lighter glass blanks could be made.
I was thinking the same thing too... the fiberglass... I guess I just don't have too much patience :P
This rod really give me the feel of fiberglass rod and I am a firm believer fiberglass would be do a awesome (better?) job in terms of spey casting... : )
I am a biologist grew up with a fishing rod in my hands. I have been fortunate enough to embrace my love of art and science in my career. Most of my free time were well spent in the nature, either studying bird behavior or chasing variety of fish with fly rods. My favorite art medium is watercolors, I love the natural and spontaneous feel created by watercolor pigments. I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard University. Welcome to my website. Mark

They seem to be very nice, good casting rods...how do you like it?
