Vlad, just curious what species in the salt that you fish greased line? I love the method because it is a joy to cast! Either weighted or unweighted flies... all fun indeed... The underwater take just add a little bit mystery (zen factors). I am a nymph guy, that is no lie! : )
Stripers in the gentle surf. It is in a way similar to stream fishing, but the dynamics of the tidal current and the wave action make it different...
You cast parallel to the wave and across, and then mend the line. If you have time, check

Kenny Abrames' web site deals with traditional techniques in surf fishing and is fabulous, indeed... Long rods, flatwing flies-steelhead/salmon tecniques in the SWFF form.
I am a biologist grew up with a fishing rod in my hands. I have been fortunate enough to embrace my love of art and science in my career. Most of my free time were well spent in the nature, either studying bird behavior or chasing variety of fish with fly rods. My favorite art medium is watercolors, I love the natural and spontaneous feel created by watercolor pigments. I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard University. Welcome to my website. Mark

Thanks Vlad,
That is one fine website! I love the articles there! No experience in surf fishing at all, but I really want to try it someday!
