Hi Mark, thanks for posting this wonderful footage... This is river Tisza, which flows through Hungary, and partly through Serbia before it joins river Danube. The big Palingenia drakes are warmwater mayflies, and the scenes of jumping asp are delightful. More and more flyfishers in this part Europe chase asp, some use two handers/switch rods. Asp are true predators and love white streamers retrieved quickly under the surface...
Thanks a lot for the information! I was scratching my head and still can not figure out what fish is jumping : P. Vald, your great input really make my blog "readable"! as always...: )Thank you!
I am a biologist grew up with a fishing rod in my hands. I have been fortunate enough to embrace my love of art and science in my career. Most of my free time were well spent in the nature, either studying bird behavior or chasing variety of fish with fly rods. My favorite art medium is watercolors, I love the natural and spontaneous feel created by watercolor pigments. I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard University. Welcome to my website. Mark
