Vlad, I appreciate your kind words and encouragement! Thanks!
This wash is a bit similar to old chinese calligrapohic painting... I was testing the new colors and see how they blended with each other (wet in wet)... on a sketch book. This turns out pretty good : ) I thought this would be a good style for kids. : )

Thanks Mark, that is what was so familiar about it (in a positive sense-it is beautiful.) Very impressionistic...there is something both ancient and modern in those old techniques. Timeless quality.
: ) Indeed... the impressionism leave ample of space for the imagination to chip in...I totally agree with you Vlad! Sometime I felt the painting was done...even the fact is few brush work... : ) I guess I am a lazy painter that try to find some good excuse...
I am a biologist grew up with a fishing rod in my hands. I have been fortunate enough to embrace my love of art and science in my career. Most of my free time were well spent in the nature, either studying bird behavior or chasing variety of fish with fly rods. My favorite art medium is watercolors, I love the natural and spontaneous feel created by watercolor pigments. I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard University. Welcome to my website. Mark
