If I only can choose "one rod" for trout fishing,with unlimited budget, what rod I would get? the Kabuto 8053 - 5 weight 8 feet. LINK. This rod is amazing! period. Its delicate enough for close range presentation, yet, punch through the wind like no body's business. Streamer fishing, you bet. The rod is medium, full bend action, relative strong tip, it remind me the G-Loomis GLX Dredger 12'9 6/7 spey rod a lot. also full bend and good feel of the rod load. When asked, the Kabuto rod can really drive the line into "wedge" loop and punch the line and big fly into gusting wind. Me, BG and Griz all love this rod. And just a note to you, we are not purists... we are just a bunch of fish dudes, we can be careless about what materials it is made from, we only care about fishing ability and the fishing feel... Kabuto rod, get 11 points out of 1-10 scale! The extra point dedicate to the artistic craftsmanship and the "Jedi" energy. "

good friends visiting!

good friends Vlad and Amy were visiting me a couple weeks ago. what a great time! It's part of mini fiberglass fly rod clave! It was just a wonderful gathering! I am sure we will have this mini clave very soon in the near future! Thanks for the wonderful time Vlad & Amy. Let's cook up some good food again! : )

Arizona Desert Trip - after house finches

just got back from the desert Arizona, a really fun and wonderful trip! captured a lot of birds for the research, saw an amazing desert landscape, lots of cactus and wonderful creatures live in there! great friends companions are just ice on the cake... am I going to move to the desert?... hell NO!

fishing in a tailwater creek, after a long silent morning, suddenly the river was "decorated" with some little yellow dots on the surface... The little "drifting yellow dots" brings the life immediately back, woke up all the fish in the river... an really amazing encounter!
