fall is here

fall is here! amazing color is everywhere... I had a chance to visit a river and just felt I have to take a spey rod with me. swing, step and enjoy the fall setting... life is colorful and peaceful!
This particular spey rod was one of my favorite light rod, it is a G loomis Dredger 6/7 12'9. A wonderful full flex light rod. I paired it with a custom cut 370 grain skagit line about 20 feet, plus about 12 feet fast sink tip. The reel is one of the classic Mohlin salmon reel. well balanced and make the maneuver so effortless. The set up is aimed to match the heavy -weighted fury flies which might elicit the hunger of the big brown trout. Unfortunately, I only had smaller browns come into play, ha... it's fun enough! I was mainly casting Ed Ward's style - Skagit double spey, down stream perry poke and reverse C spey. It is so cool to see this soft rod just springing up and shoot the heavy fly right out. It's all about the circular moment and utilize the angular momentum! It's a true joy to cast those heavy sinktip and heavy fly!

tea and salmon! it will prepare a day's energy for you! while visiting a friend's family, we enjoyed a lot of those health food with great flavor. Tea makes my mind clear, salmon re boost the stamina. I really miss those delicious food. For the stressful works I am doing now... I think I need some of those very soon! BTW, I need to quit drinking coffee... bad... @@

splice jointed ferrule system

after owned a spice jointed rod, I have confirmed this is really a superior design, especially for the long two handed rods. The splice jointed ferrule system basically is using electrical tape to tape the two pieces of precisely cut blanks together. It does take more time before fishing, but not really that much. You careful align the two and wrapped them together. After the taping work is done, you pretty much is good to go for the whole day, without worrying about the loosen ferrules. The other cool thing about this system is the rod cast just like one piece rod! I don't know what you feel about multiple piece rod, personally, I hate multiple piece rods (whether it is a single handed or double handed rod). Not only the multiple joints will decrease the sensitivity, but also they "need" constant checking for loosen ferrules (even after the extra tapping work). I know I am a bit paranoid about the loosen ferrules...@@ but for this splice joint ferrule system. I think it rebuilt my faith to the multiple pieces rod. My next rod would be another Riverwatch! What a wonderful casting machine!

A lovely dog we loved has passed away. My friend wrote a beautiful poem and made a sweet poster. It remind me how much people love him. Pochi is a lively and smart boy. He has a pair of beautiful emotional eyes, and yet bare a sort of secretive untamed wild spirit in his blood. He is a kind of character that reminded me it doesn't matter how long we have lived, but it matters the life way we have chosen. You will be missed! Pochi.
